Bad Year for Bike Thefts in Millcreek Township

July 28, 2010, 3:25 pm

According to Captain Michael Tesore of the Millcreek Police Department, this has been one of the worst years for stolen bikes.  Since June first, there have been thirty reports of stolen bikes.  Most of the bikes have been stolen around JS Wilson Middle School, but the reports have been township wide.

Captain Tesore says the thieves are getting bolder and striking at all times of the day.  In some cases, they have left bikes behind at the scene of the crime.  "What's happening is when the bikes are stolen, when the bikes are being left behind and were stolen previously", states Captain Tesore.

The best way to protect your bike from being stolen is to lock it up.  If you leave it in a garage, close the door and lock all the garages doors as well.
